LAS VEGAS– An investigation is underway in Las Vegas after the discovery of a possible biological laboratory inside a house.

Video released by Las Vegas Metro Police shows the massive response from Hazmat, SWAT and FBI teams early Sunday morning.

SWAT teams conducted searches of two homes, then focused the investigation on one home.

Inside, officers discovered refrigerators and vials containing unknown liquids.

Hazmat teams worked carefully to properly remove the items and ensure the safety of the surrounding neighborhood.

“I want to make sure that people who live up there in the Northeast region clearly understand that the very large presence will likely be in that neighborhood for several hours, if not several days,” Sheriff Kevin McMahill said.

The sheriff says this is an extremely complex situation that requires an enormous amount of resources.

One person is in custody but their identity has not been released.

Investigators say there is no threat to the public at this time.

In 2022, an illegal biolab was discovered in the town of Reedley, California.

A code enforcement officer became suspicious when he saw a garden hose protruding from a building.

Inside, investigators discovered refrigerators filled with chemicals, medical waste and nearly 1,000 dead and live mice.
