Detransitioner Wins Huge Judgment in First ‘Gender Affirmation’ Surgery Malpractice Case – RedState
These are not difficult concepts to understand: 1) it is immoral to perform elective, life-altering surgery on someone who is not old enough to order a beer, and 2) it is unethical to pit men against women in competitive sports. As obvious as these concepts are, we have seen a truly worrying number of woke people and left-wing politicians gleefully flouting any sense of decency.
Psychologist Kenneth Einhorn and surgeon Simon Chin have just discovered that the backlash against extreme gender ideology has arrived, however, and it’s time to put an end to some of the madness we’ve been witnessing. They thought it was perfectly acceptable to perform a double mastectomy on a woman who thought she might be a man… when she was 16.
They were wrong – it’s anything but right. Now is the time to pay:
A 22-year-old woman who identified as a boy when she was a teenager has won a $2 million ruling in a landmark lawsuit against New York doctors accused of performing a double mastectomy on her when she was a minor.
Fox Varian underwent life-changing surgery when she was just 16 years old – with the approval of a psychologist and a surgeon – both of whom a jury found liable for medical malpractice on January 30.
Varian, now 22 and considered a “detransitioner,” was awarded $1.6 million for his past and future pain and suffering, plus an additional $400,000 for future medical expenses – in the first malpractice lawsuit by a detransitioner in the country to go to trial and win.
This is justice.
Chloe Cole, another prominent detransitioner who has sounded the alarm about the dangers of some “gender affirmation” procedures for minors, praised the trial and its outcome:

Because this is the first positive verdict in a case like this, it probably makes medical professionals who make a ton of money mutilating children very, very nervous:
This is a historic decision – not only because of the dollar amount, but also because Varian is the first detransitioner to bring a medical malpractice case to a jury verdict. And his victory could have a ripple effect throughout the medical field.
The trial record is sealed, but journalist Benjamin Ryan attended for three full weeks and wrote a detailed report for The free press. He said the debates were “gripping and at times devastating” and “disturbing”.
Varian’s mother said professionals kept “pushing and pushing” for the operation, and they made her fear that her daughter would commit suicide if it was not performed. It’s a story we’ve heard too many times before.
Gender ideology extremists seem to be awfully quiet about this, Ryan notes:

This is an exceptional verdict and, hopefully, a sign of a long overdue reckoning in the medical field.
