Microsoft Copilot claims it can set reminders. My phone never buzzed

Microsoft has quietly added reminders to Copilot. Well, at least Copilot seems to think so. I don’t know.
Windows Latest says you can now ask Copilot to set a reminder for a specific task, and the reminder should trigger on your Android or iOS phone, letting you know what’s going on.
Recalls, of course, are nothing new – what East What’s new is simply the ability to add one directly from your PC, much like Cortana could do in Windows 10. Cortana even offered geolocation for a short time, so if you happened to be near your grocery store, it could remind you to go get milk or bread.
Copilot isn’t as sophisticated. But it does contain a feature that lets you set a reminder, at least according to Copilot. Just tell it to remind you at a certain time, and Copilot will agree to do so.
Well, Windows Latest managed to make it work. Not me.

Unfortunately, my phone did not issue a notification at the appointed time and I did not receive a notification on my PC either. Could this be a connection problem?
I asked Copilot what was wrong and he offered a long list of possible excuses.

I tried again and Copilot failed again.
At this point, setting a user-generated reminder would be table stakes for a phone or PC a decade ago. And if Copilot means it can do a recall, it should. In 2026, the fact that Copilot promises to do something it can’t do is just another reason why people are starting to wonder how much Copilot is used – and not getting answers. (SimilarWeb says the Copilot usage figure is around 1 percent.)
In 2020, Microsoft Cortana moved from a part of Windows 10 to an app, and I was left perplexed when I asked the answer “2+2.” At least Copilot can understand that.
