Neon releases creepy liminal trailer for Exit 8 — and I’m hoping for another great horror adaptation

- Neon revealed trailer and release date for horror film Exit 8
- It will arrive in theaters on April 10
- Exit 8 joins other recent horror adaptations such as Iron lung And Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
Exit 8 is the next horror video game to get the big screen treatment when it arrives in theaters on April 10.
Considering that we have seen Iron Lungthe huge box office success and rumored release of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on Peacock at some point in 2026, this is shaping up to be a huge year for game-to-screen adaptations.
Exit 8 is similar to Iron lung due to its scary environment in one place. Instead of being welded into a submarine, the protagonist here finds himself trapped in a seemingly endless subway corridor trying to find exit 8 and leave the station. Commuting to work is stressful enough without having to deal with all of that.
I’m sure everyone has their own opinion on the recent influx of video game movies. Personally, I’m excited to have seen that it’s actually possible to adapt a game well, just look The last of us And To fall to see what I mean. If it’s done well, Exit 8 could definitely join my list of good video game movies.
If you’re curious or need convincing, take a look at the weird Exit 8 trailer below.
Look on it
Exit 8 plays on the fear of liminal space
You may be familiar with Backrooms, a creepypasta about endless mazes featuring eerily abandoned locations like empty hallways, offices, shopping malls, or even subway tunnels. These are called liminal spaces, and yes, they freak me out too.
Exit 8 is based on the game of the same name from Kotake Create, with the film adaptation following one man’s journey to escape the subway and exit through Exit 8. Something that shouldn’t be difficult, but when you’re trapped in one of these strange universes, it is.
As the trailer shows, it has simple rules to follow. If anything seems unusual, he should turn around and if everything seems fine, he should continue. But if he’s wrong, he’s sent back to the beginning.
I can’t wait to see how Exit 8 is adapted to the screen; it has real potential and the trailer looks promising. I’m crossing my fingers.
