This refurbed Acer with an RTX 5060 may be the best deal in gaming PCs right now

It’s currently a very bad time to build a gaming desktop. Due to the insane price of RAM and graphics cards, buying them individually as a consumer is just a way to empty your bank account. And pre-built desktops, even if they’re not exactly a GOOD agree, are better. Take this refurbished Acer model with an RTX 5060 graphics card, on sale for $753.29 on eBay.
Here are the relevant specifications for this version:
- 10-core Intel Core i5-14400F processor
- Nvidia RTX 5060 with 8 GB VRAM
- 16 GB DDR5 system memory
- 1TB M.2 Gen4 SSD
Acer calls this desktop the Nitro 60, available in different configurations. But based on model number UD.P02AA.069, it’s the same machine sold by Micro Center, currently listed for $1,200. You don’t get a full spec breakdown – I imagine it has a lot of generic stuff – but it does include full Windows 11 Home, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and some RGB bling on the case’s three fans.
As I recently explored in this editorial, it’s really, really hard to build a gaming PC worth your while right now. In fact, buying one equivalent to this Acer nets me $1,219 on PCPartPicker, before discounts, shipping, and taxes. You can do a little better than Micro Center on this and similar desktops, with Amazon currently offering what looks like this exact model for $1,028. But it’s not really a “deal” for anyone, considering it barely hits mid-range 1080p gaming territory. For a gaming PC, I’d really prefer at least 32GB of RAM… but the Micro Center’s spec sheet says it only uses one DIMM, so you might want to hunt down another one if you find a few hundred dollars in your couch cushions.
With a “refurbished” (probably returned) desktop, sold and certified by Acer on eBay, and equipped with a two-year Allstate warranty, I think this is the best desktop gaming PC deal you’re likely to see right now. It’s not great by any means, not if you care about performance. But it will play almost any new game at 1080p/60fps and fly through most older titles with ease. That’s about all we can do right now.
