Starting to come out of the freezer this afternoon

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Last weekend was brutal. But, we finally start coming out of the freezer on Monday. Find out how quickly we are warming to more seasonal levels below…
Sunday morning was tied for the coldest morning Syracuse has seen in 3 years. How cold was it? Click here to view.
Arctic air is leaving
The cold air that accompanied us last weekend is fortunately leaving CNY. It’s not mild by any means today, but it will be quite mild this afternoon with temperatures warming into the mid to upper teens, about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the weekend. We will also see some sunshine.
Snow chances return with milder air
A clipper run just north of CNY will bring milder, more seasonal air to the area with some snow also on Tuesday after 6 or 7 a.m. There could be a quick coating of up to an inch for most, but upwards of 2 or 3 inches is possible on Tug Hill and North Country. But overall, we don’t expect anything very significant.
Around midday/afternoon, snow showers may also end with some rain or a mix, especially for areas along and south of the Thruway as temperatures rise into the mid 30s.
Behind Tuesday night’s cold front, we’ll see the air get a bit colder mid- to late-week, which should produce at least a few inches of lake-effect snow for many Wednesdays through Thursday.
