A camera trap study conducted throughout 2025 has revealed the staggering extent of biodiversity hidden in the Annamite Mountains, a largely unexplored forest refuge that stretches 1,100 kilometers across Laos and Vietnam to northeastern Cambodia. The Annamites are the only stronghold of some of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular and rare species, from the aptly named Annamite striped rabbit to the mystical saola.
