MBB Live Thread: Mizzou hosts Texas in most pivotal game of the season

First half
-
Upon video review, Phillips Jr. was assessed a technical foul after lightly elbowing Vokietatis following a rebound attempt. Pope makes one of two free throws. Texas leads 5-4 with 17:26 remaining.
-
On the ensuing offensive possession, Phillips Jr. committed another foul for extending his arm too far over Vokietatis.
-
Stone just hit one on Vokietatis. Mizzou Arena exploded. The Tigers lead 11-7 with 14:14 left.
-
Simeon Wilcher knocks down a 3-pointer from the left wing on Nicholas Randall. Randall turned on Wilcher too late and Wilcher made him pay. Mizzou still leads 12-10 with 12:23 left.
-
Mizzou leads 18-14 with 7:38 left. It was a very physical match down there. Ground fouls were called against Mizzou and Texas near the basket. Vokietatis apparently participated in all the mini-fraces inside.
-
Stone buries a deep 3-pointer from the top of the key to put Mizzou ahead 27-26 with 3:49 left. Stone and Mitchell have combined for 19 points so far.
-
HALF TIME: Texas 33, Mizzou 31. An and-one layup by Mark on Barrett gives the Longhorns the lead after the first 20 minutes of action.
-
Takeaway: Mitchell (12 points) largely managed to get what he wanted, especially with Vokietatis on the bench for the home stretch of the first half. But outside of him and Stone (eight points), offense has been hard to come by for the Tigers. Pierce was effective on the glass and on defense (four rebounds and a block). Texas has done a good job wasting the paint on defense, as Mizzou is just 3 of 10 on layups.
Second half
-
Texas leads 41-39 with 15:04 left. Vokietatis is back in the game and has caused A LOT of problems inside. He locked arms with Phillips Jr., and the latter was penalized for his third foul of the game. Nicholas Randall just completed a two-handed dunk on a steal from Barrett, which was followed by Stone forcing a backcourt violation.
-
Anthony Robinson II commits his third foul with 13:04 remaining. Swain makes both free throws to give Texas a 48-43 lead.
Pre-match updates
-
The start of today’s match has been postponed to 7:50 a.m. An in-arena announcement said the change was due to traffic on I-70 delaying essential game personnel.
