Instructors from Ukraine to help train German army

The German army (Bundeswehr) will benefit from the expertise of Ukrainian military instructors, thanks to an agreement signed last Friday by the defense ministers of the two countries.
“The plan is to integrate the experience of Ukrainian soldiers into military training, especially in military schools,” a Bundeswehr spokesperson told DPA on Monday. He did not wish to comment on the details.
The Bundeswehr is responding to dramatic changes on the battlefield in Ukraine since Russia’s attack almost four years ago.
For example, Ukrainian soldiers have more extensive experience in deploying and fighting drones, but also in rapidly integrating modern command and control technologies into combat units.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last week that a team of about a dozen invited Ukrainians took out numerous armored vehicles and other targets in a very short time during a NATO exercise in the Baltic states last year.
A participant in the exercise told the newspaper that the opposing unit led by the Estonians and Ukrainians had neutralized “two battalions in one day.”
NATO has failed to eliminate opposing drone teams.
NATO did not comment on the details of the exercise when asked, but a spokeswoman stressed that exercise scenarios can be specifically designed to give an advantage to the opposing side.
