Trump news at a glance: Ukraine must reach a deal with Russia ‘fast’, says president before trilateral talks | Trump administration

Donald Trump increased pressure on Ukraine to “quickly” reach an agreement with Russia before negotiations brokered by the United States in Geneva on Tuesday. “Ukraine better come to the table quickly,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Washington.
Trump is pushing to end the conflict, which began when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, but the two previous rounds of US-mediated talks in Abu Dhabi have given no sign of progress.
Moscow has stuck to its demands in negotiations for sweeping territorial and political concessions from Ukraine – rejected by kyiv as amounting to capitulation.
Trump’s top envoy, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will be part of the US delegation, while former Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky will lead the Moscow team.
Ukraine and Russia to meet for second round of talks as war’s fourth anniversary approaches

Trump, who throughout his second presidency has vacillated between criticism of Moscow and Kiev, began shifting blame again this weekend to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, suggesting that Ukraine was delaying efforts to end the war.

A few Republicans, outside the reach of Fox News, the American president’s favorite, had the courage to challenge Trump’s regime of tariffs and unpredictability.
The criticism ends what little remains of the tradition of the U.S. delegation to the conference limiting criticism of the commander in chief abroad.
