Man Who Shot His Family at Ice Rink Went by ‘Roberta’

Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Police Chief Tina Goncalves made it clear that the man who allegedly shot her family members at a skating rink was named “Roberta,” according to WPRI.

Breitbart News reported that at least one person was killed and others injured when shots were fired inside Dennis M. Lynch Arena.

FOX News cited an ATF source as saying the shooting “stemmed from a domestic violence incident and turned into a murder-suicide.” This happened during a high school hockey game.

The source said that “the gunman killed his wife and shot two of his children before turning the gun on himself.” The shooter reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

WPRI identified the suspected shooter as Robert Dorgan, 56, noting that he changed his gender identity years ago. In 2020, he went to the North Providence Police Department and “stated that he had recently undergone gender reassignment surgery and that his stepfather wanted him to leave their North Providence home because of it.”

Around the same time that Dorgan reportedly announced his sex change, his wife filed for divorce, citing “sex reassignment surgery, narcissistic traits and personality disorders.”
