Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning movie returns to theaters ahead of The Odyssey

Three years after the theatrical release of Christopher Nolan’s epic film, Oppenheimer returns to theaters next month for a special re-release.
Regal has announced a new celebration called “And the Prize Goes To.” Every day in March, an Academy Award nominee or winner will play at select Regal Theaters. The month-long celebration stems from Focus Features, which created the programming to build anticipation for Sense and sensitivity, a feature film adaptation of the iconic book which will hit theaters in September.
Oppenheimer will be released in select Regal Theaters on March 28, 2026. Advance tickets will be available at the discounted price of $7.99 on the mobile app, in theaters and through REGmovies.com. Regal Unlimited members can get tickets as part of their monthly membership.
Regal Cinemas will screen 31 Oscar-related films in March, one for each day of the month. In addition OppenheimerNotable films re-released next month include Mad Max: Fury Road, Pulp Fiction, ParasiteAnd Everything everywhere at the same time. From March 6-15, Regal will stream the 10 films nominated for Best Picture at the 2026 Academy Awards.
Oppenheimer is a biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the world-renowned physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. The film deals with Oppenheimer’s rise in the physics community, his influence on nuclear weapons, and the security clearance hearing that made him a political pariah. Nolan’s screenplay is based on American Prometheus, Biography of Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
Like many of Nolan’s films, Oppenheimer features an excellent cast of notable actors and actresses, including Murphy as Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt as Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, and Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss.
Oppenheimer was released in July 2023, the same day as barbie. Both films became a phenomenon thanks to the movement’s nickname, “Barbenheimer.” Oppenheimer grossed over $975 million worldwide, an impressive feat for an adult drama with a budget of $100 million. Nominated for 13 Oscars, Oppenheimer won seven, including Best Picture, Best Director (Nolan), Best Actor (Murphy) and Best Supporting Actor (Downey).
For many Nolan fans, Oppenheimer is a preview of this summer’s main event. The Odyssey, Nolan’s epic adaptation of Homer’s poem is one of the most anticipated films of 2026. Damon leads the award-winning cast as Odysseus, the Greek king who undertakes a perilous journey home from the Trojan War. The Odyssey hits theaters on July 17, 2026.
