Google I/O 2026 Will Kick Off May 19

Google I/O 2026 has official dates: The software showcase will take place May 19-20 at the company’s Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.
Unlike in previous years, when Google hid the dates of its developer event behind puzzles that fans rushed to solve, the company listed them on its official I/O 2026 page. Or maybe it was hidden at first, but people solved the puzzles in record time.
In any case, the news is out. On May 19 and 20, we’ll see what Google has cooked up to show attendees. Assuming there are no major changes to its lineup, we can expect updates to Android 17, Chrome, XR, Google’s suite of apps, and other software. If this is anything like last year’s event, what we’ll see the most is Gemini, the company’s generative AI that is now fully integrated into much of Google’s product line.
Like every other tech company, Google integrates its AI into everything. The company integrated Gemini into Maps for hands-free navigation towards the end of last year, and already in 2026 it added an AI side panel in Chrome and integrated it deeper into Gmail with suggested replies and AI previews. We expect Google to introduce many more new apps for Gemini at I/O this year.
Although the date has been revealed and there are no more puzzles to solve, fans can still enjoy the plethora of mini-games that Google has integrated into the I/O 2026 page: just click on the icons to launch one.
