Las Vegas police investigate possible terror attack in Boulder City

Las Vegas police are investigating a possible terrorist attack in Boulder City, officials said Friday.
Details of the investigation were limited, but Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill said during his annual state of the department address that the incident “appears to have posed a credible counterterrorism threat.”
A driver tried to crash into a car at an electrical substation near Interstate 11 on Thursday, officials told X.
ABC 13 Las Vegas, which first reported the story, said a vehicle hit a facility.
FOX5 reported that Las Vegas police responded to the crash outside of Boulder City, about 30 minutes from Las Vegas. It was reported that the sole occupant of the car died in the crash.
The news station said the FBI was investigating the incident as a possible terrorist threat due to the fact that the driver had crossed state lines before the crash.
News of the potential terrorist attack came as McMahill discussed previous Department of Homeland Security and counterterrorism incidents in the city, including the attack on the Trump International Hotel and the discovery of a biolab in a Las Vegas home.
“Just last night, our counterterrorism teams were out and still working on an event that happened here in our valley, and I’ll obviously talk about that later,” he told the audience. “But again, this appears to have posed a credible counterterrorism threat.” »
McMahill did not provide details about the incident but suggested the alleged attacker drove from New York to southern Nevada.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said more details would be provided at a press conference at 1 p.m.
This is a developing story.
