Because There’s Nothing the Original Captain James T. Kirk Can’t Do – RedState

I have very fond memories of my childhood, when my nascent sci-fi fan (and later writer) self was awakened by a three-season low-budget TV show that, over time, spawned a universe. The success of “Star Trek” is due in part to great screenwriters, innovative approaches to social issues and a terrific cast that worked together perfectly. But, of course, the greatest of this grand cast was Captain James Tiberius Kirk, the man who caused the Klingons to invent a new word for “defeat.”
This franchise has largely disappeared from the woke hits in recent years. But the man behind the original Captain Kirk is still going strong, even at 94, and at this late date, he’s beginning a new career: that of a heavy metal rocker.
‘Star Trek legend William Shatner is preparing to release a new heavy metal album combining covers of classics like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest And Iron Girlas well as brand new compositions. The 94-year-old actor/musician, etc., revealed that this venture into heavier soundscapes was spurred by an appearance on Nuclear Messiahthe album “Black Flame“, for which he recorded an oral introduction. He commented:
“When Nuclear Messiah came to life, something clicked. It wasn’t just a lead, it was a door. It made me want to go all the way, bring in the best metal players I could find, and create something fearless.
Working with this all-star collective has seen him team up with a slew of heavy metal and hard rock luminaries on covers and a number of brand new tracks, including:
Zakk Wylde (Black Label Company, Ozzy Osbourne)
Ritchie Blackmore (ex-Deep purple/Rainbow
Henry Rollins (ex-Black flag/Rollins Group)
Edgar Froese (Mandarin dream)
Wayne Kramer (MC5)
I don’t know all the names, not being a big modern heavy metal guy. But Shatner really wants to put in his stone.
The track listing and other details are being kept under wraps for now, but Shatner had the following to say about his passion for metal music:
“Metal has always been a place where imagination is expressed. This album is a gathering of forces, each artist bringing their passion, their precision, their chaos. I chose them because they have something to say and because metal demands honesty.”
“I’ve spent my life exploring both fact and fiction. Now I’m stepping out into the unknown again with my new heavy metal project. I cover Black Sabbath, Judas Priest And Iron Girl as well as a number of new songs written by my team. The entire project is planned for this year. I hope you’ll join me in the exploration.
There’s nothing you can’t do if you have enough courage, and courage is the very essence of Captain James T. Kirk.

William Shatner, 93, shares his secrets to staying young. Number one: Be Captain James T. Kirk.
Not only was he the man who gave the Klingons pause for the first time in the history of this warrior race, but he was also the guy who could convince an AI to self-destruct, who could force his way into the embraces of even the greenest space chicks, and who did the greatest flying drop-kicks in human history.
This isn’t his first musical effort either. Although Bill Shatner is anything but an ordinary person.
You have to admire this guy’s courage. At 94, most people still alive are drooling on a pillow in a nursing home. My old man reached 94, and although he was a tough old man to the end, he did not start a new career. But William Shatner? The man who defined “hero” for a generation? The man who was the original portrayal of one of the most badass starship captains in television and film history? This guy just doesn’t stand a chance.
Keep rocking, Captain Kirk. Set the phasers to “METAL” and launch photon torpedoes. This is far from being your last battle.
