Fresh Humiliation for Jack Smith As Judge Kills Final Classified Docs Report – RedState

A few years ago, it seemed that the left’s efforts to destroy Donald Trump were paying off. He was debanked by JPMorgan Chase, state and federal lawsuits were piling up like pancakes, and former Attorney General Merrick Garland’s attack dog, former special counsel Jack Smith, filed two major lawsuits against the then-plain citizen: one over election interference, the other over classified documents.

But a funny thing happened as we lost the Oval Office, the House and the Senate. Many cases – like the indictment of Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis for alleged election interference – have collapsed, and not only have the left failed to bring down Trump, but he is now their president.

However, there was further humiliation for Smith on Monday: A federal judge blocked the release of his final report on classified documents that Trump allegedly illegally stored at his Mar-a-Lago home:

A federal judge agreed Monday to permanently block the release of volume two of former special counsel Jack Smith’s report — focused on President Donald Trump’s handling of classified materials after his first term — in a significant victory for the president and his co-defendants.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, granted the president’s request to permanently block the release of the second volume of the report, ruling that its release would represent a “manifest injustice” to both Trump and the co-defendants in the classified documents case.

Cannon took a little longer to neutralize Smith because he had acted “without legal authority”:

It seems that the report will never see the light of day:

The decision prevents the Department of Justice from “disclosing, distributing, transmitting, or sharing with any person outside the Department of Justice any information or findings contained in Volume II or drafts thereof.”

It also comes just a day before Tuesday’s scheduled release of Volume II of Smith’s special counsel investigation.

Smith was defeated by Republicans during his congressional testimony in January. Here he is unable to remember if he even took the oath:

Cannon had ruled in July 2024 that Smith was unconstitutionally appointed as special counsel. The Justice Department then officially shelved the case when Trump won the November 24 presidential election. In light of this, she ruled, the defendants, including Trump, as well as Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, two former Mar-a-Lago employees, would suffer “irreparable harm” to their reputations.

It’s hard to feel sympathy for the sinister Smith, who participated in as audacious a government witch hunt as ever. His failed cases belong in the dustbin of history, and it appears that’s exactly where Cannon’s order will keep them.

Hardest hit: left-wing media. They were so hoping for headlines like this:
