I’ve tested portable projectors for many different use cases, but few, if any, come close to the complete package offered by the XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro. This is my favorite of the bunch, and right now you can get a nice bundle with the XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro portable projector and PowerBase support (which you honestly need) for $368.99, down from $499 when it launches in fall 2024. This is its lowest price ever, according to price tracking tools.
The projector has two ports: one USB and one micro HDMI, allowing you to project from a laptop or phone, or you can simply screen mirror from your devices via the Google TV operating system. Plus, because the projector is “smart,” it already comes with the typical apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon, and you can download more from the Google Play Store and control it with a remote. With 450 lumens and 1080p, it’s best used in dark rooms, but you can get away with some ambient light (I make good use of it in my garden).
Where this projector really shines is with the Keystone autofocus feature. If you move it anywhere, it will automatically correct itself to make the image look its best, regardless of where it is set up. It is user-friendly and designed to be configured quickly, without much manipulation. It also comes with a powerful 5W Harman Kardon speaker, which sounds great, about on par with a speaker like the Echo point.
What do you think of it so far?
One caveat: this projector doesn’t have an internal battery, which is a huge disappointment. You will need to use a portable charger, plug it into an outlet or, if you buy it in this pack, the PowerBase supportwhich can offer 2.5 hours of battery life. (If you plan to use it mainly indoors, you can choose the projector only for $318.99.)
