A new Evangelion series is coming from Studio Khara and Yoko Taro, creator of NieR

Anime fans rejoice, Neon Genesis Evangelion series on the horizon. This was announced during a 30th anniversary event in Japan. The bad news? Franchise creator Hideaki Anno will not write the scripts.
However, his replacement will be Yoko Taro, the guy . He also wears one for some reason. The NieR franchise is known for its rich and complex lore, with a history spanning thousands of years and sometimes delving into a parallel universe.

Evangelion veteran Kazuya Tsurumaki will be on hand to direct the episodes, which is nice for longtime fans. He led the Rebuilding Evangelion movies and recent Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX animated. Composer Keiichi Okabe, from the NieR franchise, is composing the music for the new show. The new series will be produced by Studio Khara and Cloverworks.
While we know quite a bit about who is behind the scenes in the upcoming series, we know nothing about the plot. With Taro on board, it could really go in any direction. It is good to remember, after all, that Deny is actually a spin-off of a PS2 game called Drakengard.
