What Is a Group of Vampires Called? Depends on the Lore
The term “vampire clans” appears in the novels. A coven refers to a collection of individuals with similar interests or activities. Members follow shared laws, rituals, and traditions designed to help them survive and hide from the mortal world.
Some stories prefer the term “clan”, particularly when bloodlines and lineage define identity.
In these worlds, members share common characteristics transmitted through the embrace, the act of transforming a human into undead. A clan can trace its power back centuries to masters, kings, or a third generation of reputedly established elders.
“Kinded society” is another expression, especially in the history of role-playing games. Here, vampires call themselves related to emphasize culture rather than monstrosity. They form ranks, enforce their own rules, and protect the Masquerade (the great effort to hide their existence from humanity).
