I was interested in the article on the decline of wearing clogs (Experience: I am the last traditional clog maker in England, February 22). I had “flat feet” in the 1970s, perhaps because I worked in hospitals with underfloor heating.

During a visit to Sweden in 1974, I noticed that many people were wearing wooden clogs and decided to try a pair. Instant comfort.

Since then, I have never worn any other shoes (besides winter boots) and have a variety of wooden shoes, from formal wear (for weddings, funerals, graduation ceremonies, etc.) to everyday wear.

I buy mine from a company on the west coast of Sweden. Highly recommended!
