Meet Expedition: Handheld, PCWorld’s new portable gaming show

Two men arrive from opposite directions in the barren Nevada desert. Neither has a hat or a weapon. Both have something more interesting: portable gaming devices. As two men in the desert are wont to do, they start a podcast. It’s called Expedition: Handheld.
PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray teams up with another handheld expert, Retro Game Corps’ Russ Crandall, to produce a handheld show for The Full Nerd Network. Expedition: Handheld will cover the explosive handheld gaming segment, which has grown from a handful of retro emulation gadgets to the fastest-growing segment of the PC market.
And to be clear, this experiential show will cover much more than the Steam Deck and its various competitors: anything that can play games in your hand is fair game. Smaller, more affordable Linux and Android-based emulators have a growing following, and if you like one side of the market, you’re probably at least interested in the other. The format will be a little less technical, a little more casual, covering current events and what the guys have been using and playing lately.
The first episode comes out this Saturday, February 28. You can tune in live and join us on The Full Nerd Discord to be a part of the show. As always, don’t forget to check out the PCWorld channel for the latest PC hardware news and reviews, The Full Nerd for our weekly show, and watch Dual Boot Diaries if you want to get started with running Linux.
