Is Claude Down? Anthropic Says It’s Resolved the AI Tool’s Outage

An outage reported for Claude AI from Anthropic lasted more than 2 hours Monday morning, with the company claiming to have resolved the errors of Claude.AI, Claude Code and its Claude Opus 4.6 model shortly before 11 a.m.
The outage began shortly before 7 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday. Anthropic’s status page showed persistent errors more than 2 hours later.
Anthropic said in a statement during the outage that consumer products were unavailable but the Claude API, primarily used by businesses, was still working. “Our team is working to restore full service and we will share updates as we have them,” the company said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to get things back online while dealing with unprecedented demand for Claude over the past week.”
Downdetector showed reported issues with Claude around 6:45 a.m., with almost 2,000 reports. That number was down to 275 as of 9:30 a.m. (Disclosure: Downdetector and CNET are both owned by the same parent company, Ziff Davis.)
