Chet Hanks, stranded in Colombia, says ‘free me’

Chet Hanks says he’s stuck in Medellin, Colombia, where he spent the weekend trying to resolve a passport problem.
The 35-year-old son of Hollywood royals Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson told his 600,000 Instagram followers that after celebrating a friend’s birthday in Puerto Rico, he decided to visit a friend in Colombia.
According to Hanks – a dual citizen traveling on his Greek passport – airport authorities blocked him from re-entering the United States when he tried to return home.
“They tell me if I use a foreign passport, I need a green card to come back to America,” he says. “I don’t have a green card because I’m a US citizen.”
Hanks said the problem could probably be resolved if he went to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, but he wasn’t interested in making the 250-mile trip. He said he left his U.S. passport at home because it was about to expire, which he said could pose a problem.

“So yes, release me,” he said. “Release me.”
Hanks seemed to be making the most of his time in the South American city. On Sunday, he posted a video showing him singing in a bar and a photo taken in a gym in Medellin.
“Estamos bien, no te preocupes,” he posted in this last image.
This translates to “We’re fine, don’t worry.”
Aside from his famous parents, Hanks is best known as a singer, actor and lifestyle influencer who shares fitness tips on social media.
