Our Favorite Budget TV Is On Sale

Looking for a new television, but don’t want to break the bank on fancy QD-OLED technology and features you may not need? This 55-inch screen from Vizio is marked down to $237 at Walmart, a ten percent markdown from its usual, already quite low price. It would make a great second TV for your garage or guest room,
With a plain old LED panel, the Vizio isn’t going to turn any heads or impress your most keen-eyed friends, but it’s more than good enough for a night in catching up on your stories. It still has full support for Dolby Vision, plus HDR10+ for all your high dynamic range needs. It even has some gaming chops, with 60Hz at 4K, or 120Hz at 1080p with motion enhancement turned on, good enough for all but the newest consoles and gaming computers. If your device supports it, the Vizion has Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to match the screen’s current refresh rate to the FPS of your game to reduce tearing.
While it has its own built-in smart interface from Vizio, it also supports a variety of wireless connections, including both Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, so both Android and iOS users can take advantage. If you want to include it in your smart home automations, it also hooks up to Apple Home, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. If you use the mobile app, you can even leverage voice controls to easily find your favorite show or movie, and WiFi 6 means you have one of the latest connection types for faster connections and less buffering. For ports, you’ll get access to three HDMI 2.1 ports, although unfortunately none of them feature eARC, which is a reasonable compromise given the extremely low price point.
If you’re ready to pull the trigger on this discounted budget screen, make sure to head over to Walmart and grab the 55-inch Vizio for just $237. If you’re curious what spending a little bit more would get you, we have a whole guide with our favorite televisions that includes awesome QLED and OLED options with advanced features.
