“Our War Powers Resolution authorizes short-term targeted strikes on the regime’s missiles and bombs, requires Trump to appear before Congress for a vote, and specifies ‘no ground troops,’” Rep. This sentiment was not popular. The original war powers resolution, co-sponsored by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and Democrat Ro Khanna, would immediately block any U.S. military action without congressional approval under the War Powers Resolution of 1973. The vote is scheduled for Wednesday, but it has no chance of becoming law. Although it passed both houses of Congress, it did not have enough support to override Trump’s veto.
