Diggs caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns as he helped the Patriots reach Super Bowl XL last season.
Diggs, who turns 33 next season, signed a three-year, $63,500,000 contract with the New England Patriots last summer but would carry a daunting $26 million cap hit through the 2026 season.
Diggs posted on social media thanking the Patriots, adding “We are family forever.”
Diggs ran into legal trouble last year after her former boss claimed he punched her in the face and choked her before throwing her on a bed on December 2.
Diggs has pleaded not guilty to charges of strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor battery.
