Rubio Shines in Viral Remarks at ‘Shield of Americas’ Meeting While Trump Hints Big News to Come on Cuba – RedState
There’s a running joke about all the positions Secretary of State Marco Rubio has had to take on in the Trump administration.
It appears Rubio faced yet another as he spoke at the Americas Shield meeting in Florida – along with President Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth – in front of Latin American leaders.
He started in English, then essentially reiterated the points he had made in Spanish, saying he thought he was a “good interpreter” for himself, adding an aside to the president: “You’ll know in a second.” Trump responded with a broad smile and was clearly proud of Rubio’s abilities. The clip has now gone viral.

Rubio thanked the 12 countries present. He said Trump had made the region a priority. Many presidents say they’re going to do it, Rubio said, but Trump has done it.
“These are countries that are not just allies, they are friends. These are countries that always respond when there is a need and work with us, and there is still much to do. These are countries with large populations and great potential, and we want to be their partners in the development of their nations, their economies and their security,” he added.
“Thank you very much for being here with us. God bless all your countries, the United States, and thank you as always for your cooperation. We will continue to work together and we will achieve very good and very important things for this region. Future generations will be grateful for the work that we do,” he concluded.
Trump made fun of it, asking if Rubio was “better at Spanish or English” and teasing that he was “better at Spanish.”

Trump said the administration was in negotiations with Cuban leaders. He made a very important comment that Cuba, as it always has been, is “at the end of the line.”

Trump also joked about Rubio’s work ethic.
“What are you going to do, Marco? Take two days off?” » Trump asked Rubio in a relaxed tone. “No, maybe an hour. He’ll take an hour off and then he’ll make a deal on Cuba. It’ll be easy,” he added with a laugh.
