More Troubling Info About IED and Suspects at NYC Protest as Mamdani Issues Disgraceful Statement – RedState

There is now more information about this device that was thrown at police and an “anti-Islamization” protest near Gracie Mansion, the New York City mayor’s residence, as well as more information about the men charged in this action.
According to New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the “flaming device” we talked about was in fact a dangerous IED.

The NYPD Bomb Squad conducted a preliminary analysis of a device that was ignited and deployed at a protest yesterday and determined it was not a hoax or smoke bomb. It was in fact an improvised explosive device that could have caused serious injury or even death.
More in-depth analyzes will be carried out, notably on a second device.
Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi were arrested at the scene yesterday and are in custody in connection with this case. The NYPD is working on this investigation with our partners at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the FBI through our Joint Terrorism Task Force.
I want to once again thank the courageous members of the NYPD who ran toward danger without hesitation and quickly apprehended the suspects.
She also appears to correct the name of the second man, who was initially tentatively identified as “Ibrahim Nikk.”
Fox’s Bill Melugin said both men are believed to be American citizens. At least one of them reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar”.
NEW: According to three federal police sources, the two suspects arrested by the New York police for throwing an IED after shouting “Allahu Akbar” during a demonstration in New York yesterday are both American citizens. Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi are in custody and the New York police confirm that it was a real IED.

Any professional advice? This could be a sign of motivation. As we have noted, the media seemed to deliberately obscure who was doing what in this case. If you read some of their headlines, you might think the IEDs were targeting Mayor Zohran Mamdani, rather than the police and people protesting Mamdani.
Meanwhile, Mamdani released a shameful statement, concealing the identity of the alleged perpetrator of the attack. He attacked Jake Lang and left out the identity of the real people accused. While he talks about “white supremacy,” he is not talking about the ideology or motivations of the alleged attackers.
Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang staged a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hatred has no place in New York. It is an affront to the values of our city and the unity that defines who we are.

Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang staged a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hatred has no place in New York. It is an affront to the values of our city and the unity that defines who we are.
What followed was even more disturbing. Violence during a demonstration is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and harm others is not only criminal, but reprehensible and contrary to who we are.
I want to thank the brave men and women of the New York Police Department who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran into danger without hesitation, once again demonstrating the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every day.
My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our police commissioner.
If you read that without more, you would assume that Lang or one of his contingent did it. Mamdani can’t even be honest about what happened. It took him a day to come to this terrible declaration.
The fact that Mamdani issued such a statement, knowing what it would look like, and did it anyway, is despicable.
The police were also investigating the hypothesis of a possible act of terrorism.
BREAKUP | NBC News: The New York Police Department and the FBI are treating this incident as a possible act of terrorism, in part because one of the suspects directly referenced ISIS in his statements to law enforcement, according to several people familiar with the matter.
