Australia has granted asylum to five members of the Iranian women’s football team who were in the country for a tournament at the start of the Iran war. The team was branded “traitors” for refusing to sing the Iranian national anthem before a match. NBC News’ Camila Bernal says this isn’t the first time athletes have sought refuge abroad due to conflict.
