Drill, Baby, Drill Leads to Refine, Baby, Refine With New Texas Facility – RedState

The US energy sector is recovering with new exploration and extraction of natural gas wells underway. But “drill, baby drill” is no good without “refine, baby, refine,” because oil in particular must be converted into something useful before its real value can be realized: gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, and all the myriad other materials we get from this black gold.
The problem is that the United States hasn’t seen a new oil refinery open in over 50 years – until today. President Trump and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced the good news Tuesday.
Another HUGE win from @POTUS for the American people!
American energy dominance generates more jobs, lower costs, and a more secure future. https://t.co/rJL7JqeSBH

The president, on Truth Social, writes:
America is returning to TRUE ENERGY DOMINANCE! Today, I am proud to announce that America First Refining is opening the FIRST new U.S. oil refinery in 50 YEARS in Brownsville, Texas. This is a historic $300 billion deal – the largest in U.S. history, a massive victory for American workers, energy and the GREAT people of South Texas! Thank you to our partners in India and their largest private energy company, Reliance, for this tremendous investment. It is because of our America First agenda, streamlining permits and reducing taxes, that have attracted billions of dollars in transactions returning to our nation. A new refinery at the Port of Brownsville will supply U.S. markets, strengthen our national security, boost U.S. energy production, generate billions of dollars in economic impact and be THE CLEANEST REFINERY IN THE WORLD. This will boost global exports and bring THOUSANDS of long-awaited jobs and growth to a region that deserves it. This is what AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE looks like. AMERICA FIRST, ALWAYS!
No, we’re not tired of winning yet, although a legitimate question to Washington with this news would be, “What took so long?”

Today, not opening a single major refinery in over 50 years is a disaster. Some state governments have made it nearly impossible to operate a refinery within their borders — yes, I’m looking at you, Gavin Newsom. Refineries are large, expensive, and complex facilities, and no oil company or, indeed, anyone or organization considering investing in one of these operations will think long and hard about the likelihood that the next Democrat in power will shut it all down.
But now we have a brand new refinery in Brownsville, Texas – Texas being a pretty energy-efficient state. This refinery will not only (presumably) produce gasoline, diesel, and all the other fuels and byproducts that sustain our economy, but it will also provide many skilled, well-paying jobs to the region.
No, we’re not tired of winning yet, but when it comes to refineries, it better be the first of many. Speaking of which: Mr. President, here in the Big Country we sit on an ocean of oil and pay $3.50 a gallon for gasoline and almost $4 for diesel. Can we put more refineries here? Pretty please?
Editor’s note: Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and bold policies, the U.S. economy is back on track.
