Billie Eilish to Star in Sarah Polley’s ‘The Bell Jar’ Movie for Focus

Billie Eilish is eyeing the big screen.
The music star is in talks to make her acting debut with Oscar-winning filmmaker Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Sylvia Path’s classic 1963 novel. The bell. Polley, who won an Oscar for his 2022 screenplay Women who speakwrote the screenplay that adapts the book.
Focus Features landed the project from Plan B Entertainment and StudioCanal. Joy Gorman Wettels, known for Little House on the Prairie And 13 reasons whyserves as producer. After launching the project through his company Joy Coalition, Gorman Wettels packed The bell with Eilish and Polley and called on Plan B and StudioCanal.
The bestselling novel centers on student Esther Greenwood’s mental health journey as she takes on a role in a magazine.
A 10-time Grammy-winning musician, Eilish won her second Academy Award for her song “What Was I Made For?” from the 2023 movie barbie. This followed his Oscar win for “No Time to Die” from the 2021 James Bond film of the same name. His most recent album was 2024 Hit me hard and softwith hit singles “Birds of a Feather” and “Wildflower.”
The star tried to play with a role in the Prime Video series Swarm. She hosted a 2021 episode of Saturday evening live.
Eilish is represented by WME and Sandbox Entertainment. Polley is repped by WME, GGA and Circle Management. Gorman Wettels is replaced by Nina Shaw at Del Shaw.
