Popular YouTuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul indicated he plans to run for office during a recent interview with President Donald Trump.

In an interview posted Friday on Paul’s YouTube channel, Trump asked him if he would run for office. The president endorsed Paul for a potential position during a speech Thursday at a packing plant in Boone County, Kentucky.

“I think so,” Paul replied. “I see myself as wanting to become more involved in this world. I believe this is the best way to create impact and change in America.”

If and when Paul enters politics, he will have Trump as a key ally. Trump shared his own experience in politics as an outsider in the interview.

“It’s hard. A lot of people are talking about it. It had to be done. And I still had a chance because we’re getting to a certain age. We have a few years left. You know, the timing was good, but if I had waited any longer, it wouldn’t have been good because of the clock. You know, the famous clock. Father’s time,” Trump said.

At a rally Wednesday, Trump gave Paul his “complete and total support” if the boxer chose to pursue political office.

“What Mr. Trump taught me is courage. We never back down from a fight, even if they are way bigger than you, way bigger than you,” Paul said. “I think all local Kentuckians feel the same way. You have this fight. You have this spoils.”

The two then performed Trump’s iconic dance in a TikTok video posted by Paul.
