CNN’s Horrible Week Gets Worse As Details Emerge on Network Officials Partying at Iranian Embassy – RedState
CNN has for days tried to defend the fact that Iran’s authoritarians – at least those who remain – granted them permission to be the only network allowed into the country, declaring it a case of journalistic excellence. It was inevitable that most people would see this as a medium being used as a propaganda puppet, but they shouted anyway, making themselves out to be the offended party.
Then they immediately continued with the same behavior. Milquetoast dispatches from his correspondent Frederick Pleitgen followed, with him dropping taped segments on the streets, but no live reporting. This was followed by Plietgen’s interview with an Iranian government figure (we’ll just avoid the 35,000 civilian assassinations, thanks). Then CNN went further by transmitting its American broadcasts to Iranian state television for a full four minutes. We’ll leave it to readers to decide how much this compromises the so-called news media.

It was revealed that prior to this arrangement, CNN personalities in London were discovered partying with Iranian officials. Before CNN entered Tehran, at a reception at the Iranian embassy, a CNN bureau chief and a correspondent were captured mingling with authorities. More on that in a minute.
It’s been a week since ages at CNN. Numerous retractions have had to be issued following its fragmented coverage of last weekend’s attempted bombing in Manhattan; it continues to provide propaganda coverage on Operation Epic Fury, and Friday saw them grapple with an erroneous report that our military was unprepared for a basic tactic that Iran has applied for decades.
In a sign of the seriousness of the situation, Brian Stelter, who was attempting to perform cleaning tasks for his network, was hung out to dry not once, but twice in a matter of days. First of all, he called a report on potential suicide bombers “solid,” followed by editors removing language that was also used in a social media post that needed to be forgotten. Then, on Friday, he defended CNN’s claims about the Strait of Hormuz, saying the network stood by its reporting… only to have those reports corrected twice.

Stelter showed us what it looks like When you attempt to clean with only a mop but no bucket of soap, you manage to spread the stain. And now a whole new mess has occurred, one that might require the intervention of a ServPro team.
At Newsbusters, Nick Fondacaro found an article in The Telegraph which revealed how some British politicians had attended a celebration at the Iranian embassy, complete with comments made by the hosts about how their leadership had thrived, despite gross interference from those of us in the West. This report contained a notable detail.
Although The Telegraph never claimed that CNN employees were present, a photograph showed CNN’s London bureau chief, Andrew Roy, and CNN’s chief global affairs correspondent, Matthew Chance, at the party, shaking hands with the Iranian ambassador. The network told Fondacaro they were doing “normal work” covering government officials. To date, they have yet to show their work. Fondacaro states:
As of the time this article was published (March 13, 2026), Chance had not filed any reports on this matter. According to his profile page on the CNN website, the only topics he spoke about in February were Ukraine and Russia. A SnapStream search of Matthew Chance’s live reporting confirmed this. Neither Roy nor Chance had even posted on X that they would participate in the regime’s party.
Which makes this all the more interesting, after Newsbusters revealed this meeting, The Telegraph removed this photo with the two CNN employees. The remaining photos in this article are courtesy of the Iran Press news agency, so removing one of the photos seems more than curious. There appears to be a strong desire to distance oneself from this Iranian “celebration”, which took place in mid-February, at a time when that country’s leaders were killing tens of thousands of demonstrators. It’s not a good idea to rejoice at a black-tie cocktail party with the same people who are exterminating one’s nobility.
We can speculate whether this means CNN reached out and asked the Telegraph to remove this photo, but it fits with the fractured behavior seen across the network over the past week. This is a source of information that has deteriorated considerably in the space of a few days. It is therefore not out of place to consider that it could force another media to broadcast an image, with the aim of hiding what could be an incriminating event.
