Did They Really Say This? CNN Issues Incredible Statement About Their Horrible Week of False Stories – RedState

CNN has had a terrible, horrible, no good, even very bad week filled with fake news.
If you recognize this wording, it comes from the children’s book: “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, Not Good, Very Bad Day,” where nothing goes well during the day. But it wasn’t Alexandre’s fault. On the other hand, it was CNN/their collaborators’ fault.
Now they’ve released a statement from CNN Chairman and CEO Mark Thompson, and it’s like they learned nothing from this week. This statement is incredible – and not in a good way.

“We stand behind our journalism. Politicians have clear reasons to claim that journalism that raises questions about their decisions is wrong. At CNN, our only interest is in telling the truth to our audiences in the United States and around the world and no amount of political threats or insults will change that.”
The first thing I’d like to note is that because they’ve had so many false stories/comments this week from their staffers, I’m not sure which story they’re referring to here, or if they’re just referring to all their bad reporting. Can I make fun of them by saying that their “only interest is to tell the truth”. When will they start?
But let’s review some of these false stories. It’s difficult for them to challenge this terminology as CNN has had to remove tweets and make corrections/clarifications throughout the week.
There was this tweet that misled people about the identity of the suspected suicide bombers and the target of their actions.

Then they removed it, and even the “clarification” received a community rating.
An article about the two individuals arrested for throwing pipe bombs outside the home of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani failed to reflect the seriousness of the incident, violating the editorial standards we require in all of our reporting. It was therefore deleted.

Then there were Abby Phillip and Edward Isaac-Dovere who claimed that the target of the bombers was New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, when it was the people protesting against him; and the suspects reportedly said they were influenced by ISIS. Phillip and Isaac-Dovere had to make corrections to what they had said. Phillip’s correction also received a community rating.
I want to correct something I said last night. The bombs thrown in New York this weekend by ISIS-inspired attackers were thrown at a crowd of anti-Muslim protesters and were not specifically targeted at Mayor Mamdani. This wording was inaccurate and I didn’t understand it in advance…

There was also this winner from CNN Democratic pundit Paul Begala, who claimed that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth paid $6.9 million in September for “rib-eye steaks and lobster tails” just for himself.
The latest “scandal” from the Trump administration lasted about 60 seconds. Proceeds come directly from America’s military heroes 🇺🇸

It was ridiculous at first glance. How can someone eat so much food in a month? The lobster and steaks were for the troops, something that had been happening for years under several presidents. The Babylon Bee had a lot of fun with this.

Oh, and then there was the story that Team Trump did not “plan” or envisage that the Iranians might attempt to blockade the Strait of Hormuz if attacked. This story was mocked by many and destroyed by, among others, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Tom Cotton (R-AR). CNN then published some “clarifications” in its articles.

So seriously, how can you go through a week like that and then try to end it by blaming others? If they’re trying to blame the Trump administration, it’s the victim of the latest story. They then pretended to be wronged, as if they had been threatened.
Here’s the thing. Post stories/tweets/comments that aren’t fake and you won’t have a problem.
