‘If They Had a Nuclear Weapon, They Would Use It’ – RedState

In an Oval Office press conference on Monday, President Trump spoke about the ongoing Operation Epic Fury, the state of theocratic rule in Iran (or what’s left of it), and this rogue nation’s attempts to build a nuclear weapon. Vice President JD Vance was by his side throughout.

.@POTUS: “I don’t want wars. I want wars less than anyone… I think @VP understands better than anyone: if you gave Iran a nuclear weapon, at least a very significant part of the world would explode, and it would be used almost immediately. » https://t.co/P0bwpBnyaR pic.twitter.com/WgSgQTF0zy

Some key excerpts from President Trump:
They (the Iranian regime) are violent people. If they had nuclear weapons, they would use them. And sometimes we have people who, like me, are very attached to wars, and I say to them, “Do you think Iran is violent, and do you think its people are violent?” Yes, management. “Do you think they should have a nuclear weapon?” Which represents enormous power. I don’t even want to discuss how powerful it is, because it’s depressing. And they said, “No, they shouldn’t have (a nuclear weapon). »
Key point here. This all started with Iranian attempts to build a nuclear weapon, and if the Trump administration had not acted, first under Operation Midnight Hammer and now Operation Epic Fury, there is no doubt that the Iranian regime would have built such a weapon. It’s not exactly new technology, after all; we did it in 1945. And if this regime had built a working apparatus, as the president has been saying for 20 years, and what I have been saying for at least as long, he would have used it. This is what is behind everything we are doing in Iran now; the problem, after all, is not the technology. It was the regime that was working at all costs to develop such a weapon.
The president also criticized the Iranian regime for shooting at protesters, reporting 32,000 protesters killed by the regime, calling them “violent people.” Later, the president was quite enthusiastic about the capabilities of the B-2 Spirit bomber, its precision, its stealth, and credited this aircraft with the success of Operation Midnight Hammer, saying that no other country in the world had this capability.

But the real moment came after a question to Vice President Vance, in which a reporter allegedly tried to shine some light between POTUS and VPOTUS, only to have the effort blow up in his face.
“What the president has consistently said since 2015 – and I agree with him – is that Iran should not have nuclear weapons,” he said. @VP on Operation Epic Fury.

Vice President Vance said:
VP Vance: I know what you’re trying to do, Phil, you’re trying to drive a wedge between members of the administration, between me and the president. What the president has always said, since 2015, and I agree with him, is that Iran should not have nuclear weapons. We carried out this military action under the leadership of the president. I think all of us, whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, should pray for success and pray for the safety of our troops. This is the approach I took. Make it as successful as possible.
Questioner: So there is no hesitation, given your past statements, regarding the current operation?
VP Vance: What do you mean, there is no hesitation with my past statements?
Q: Given your (inaudible) skepticism about the global war on terror before?
VP Vance: I think a big difference, Phil, is that we have a smart president, whereas in the past we’ve had stupid presidents, and I trust President Trump to get the job done, to do a good job for the American people and to make sure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated. Absolutely.
It’s a solid team. This is a team that understands that the problem is not Iran’s ability to build a nuclear weapon; it is the will of the regime to use such a weapon. If Iran developed a working device, it wouldn’t necessarily even need to make it small and light enough to fit inside a missile; all they would have to do is put it in a cargo container, put the container on an old hobo freighter with a skeleton crew – there are plenty of useful idiots in the Muslim world who would take on this mission – and sail it to a port, like Haifa, or Ashdod, or New York, late at night, and burn the thing down.
What the outcome of such an act will be – remember, Israel almost certainly already possesses nuclear weapons – is not worth considering. That’s why the administration has partnered with Israel to tackle this problem. This is why we have to go all the way. It is good to see that the administration strongly supports this effort.
Editor’s Note: For decades, past presidents have done nothing but talk. Now, Donald Trump eliminates the Iranian threat once and for all.
