SAVE America Act ‘Despicable,’ Trump Wants to ‘Cheat’ in Midterms

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the SAVE America Act “one of the most despicable pieces of legislation” he has seen before the bill came up for a vote this week.
Talk to journalists In a phone call Sunday, Schumer claimed that President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans were trying to “disenfranchise millions of Americans and undermine democracy by promoting this despicable SAVE Act,” also known as the Save America Voter Eligibility Act.
He also called the election integrity bill “one of the most despicable pieces of legislation I have encountered in my many years as a legislator.”
“Nothing is more important than defeating this dagger at the heart of our democracy,” the Democratic leader told reporters.
After weeks of slide his feet On Voter ID Bill, Senate Majority Leader John Thune Finally Says The Act Will Be Voted This Week, CNBC reported.
However, the law is likely to fail due to Thune’s reluctance to change the Senate filibuster, which currently requires a 60-vote threshold to pass legislation.
Schumer continued his speech to reporters by saying, “Donald Trump thinks he’s going to lose the election. He knows his numbers are in the gutter.”
“So what does he want to do? Well, he wants to cheat. He wants to steal the election like he did in 2021, in a different way,” he said.
He added that Senate Democrats aren’t sure what Thune will bring to the debate in the coming days, but they are prepared to counter it.
“We don’t yet know what Thune is doing, what exactly he will do, but we are prepared for all possible scenarios,” the New York senator said. “My caucus really believes that it would be a horror, you know, one of the worst things that has happened in the history of this country in terms of allowing people to vote.”
