Assassin’s Creed fans have been burned by a terrible adaptation before, but Netflix’s cast announcement has filled me with renewed hope

- Netflix has confirmed the cast members for its Assassin’s Creed TV series
- We also know that Chernobylby Johan Renck will direct
- Plot details and release date are still under wraps
Netflix has partnered with Ubisoft for a Assassin’s Creed TV series, and at first I wasn’t convinced. But after seeing the announcement of the new cast, I am hopeful that the best streaming service can give us a good adaptation.
It is difficult to ignore the failure that was the Assassin’s Creed movie, and it’s a dismal 18% Rotten Tomatoes score. Despite the fact that it had an all-star cast, it ultimately failed in many areas.
But in the era of good video game adaptations like The last of us And To fallI started to have the idea of one Assassin’s Creed to show. It would definitely help with the pacing, and the casting has already caught my attention, which is a good sign.

Recently, Netflix confirmed that the following names will feature in its upcoming series.
- Tony Wallace
- Zachary Hart
- Lola Petticrew
- Laura Marcus
- Tanzyn Crawford
- Noomi Rapace
- Ramzy Bedia
- Sean Harris
- Corrado Invernizzi
There’s a real mix here and it doesn’t take a massive Hollywood ensemble trying to sell the show more, which fills me with optimism.
The names that strike me are Noomi Rapace, who I particularly liked in The girl with the dragon tattooand Sean Harris who starred in some of my favorite horror films like Crawl And Opossum.
Elsewhere, Zachary Hart appeared on the Apple TV show Slow Horses, where you may recognize him from, and Tanzyn Crawford is in the HBO series. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Meanwhile, Lola Petticrew was directing the historical drama Say nothing and Laura Marcus will be in the next one hunger games movie, Sunrise over the Harvest.
With a diverse cast of talents, it feels like Netflix’s. Assassin’s Creed has serious potential. In addition to this, it has also been confirmed that Johan Renck, who is best known for directing HBO’s Chernobyl, will direct the Assassin’s Creed series, according to Variety reports.
The plot is still shrouded in mystery, with a connecting line from Tudum teasing: “Assassin’s Creed is a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions – one aiming to determine the future of humanity through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters through pivotal historical events as they struggle to shape the destiny of humanity.
It’s still too early to fully assess the series’ performance, but I can’t wait to give it a shot.
