Skating club to present annual ice show this weekend in East Grand Forks

Mar. 18—GRAND FORKS — The Northern Lights Figure Skating Club and the City of East Grand Forks are hosting the 54th annual Ice Show, scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, March 21 and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22 at the East Grand Forks Civic Center, 300 15th St. NE.
This year’s event, “Skate into the Dreamhouse,” will feature 120 skaters, ages 3 to 18, said Kristen Carlson, of East Grand Forks.

The skaters will range from beginners to high schoolers showcasing their latest routines, Carlson said. This is not a competition, but rather an end-of-year ice show.
“It’s inspired by all the amazing things Barbie and Ken can be – from dreamers and leaders to athletes, artists and everything in between,” she said. “As our skaters tour the Dreamhouse, they will celebrate imagination, confidence and the idea that you can be anything when you believe in yourself.”
Skaters will take to the ice “in a colorful, high-energy production inspired by imagination, teamwork and the fun of skating, showcasing skills from beginner to advanced levels of skating,” Carlson said.
The show will include 37 routines, performed individually and in groups.

The annual ice show is a long-standing community tradition “that celebrates the hard work and dedication of local skaters while providing family entertainment for all ages,” Carlson said.
Everyone is invited to attend and support these athletes, she said, “and enjoy an afternoon of skating, music and creativity.”
Tickets, available at the door, are $6 for adults and $4 for students K-12; Entrance is free for children under 5 years old. The weekend pass costs $10 for adults.
