Apple’s new baby, the MacBook Neo, is already on sale at Amazon

SAVE UP TO $9.01: The new Apple MacBook Neo has been on sale on Amazon since March 18. Save $4 on the base 256GB model (now $595) and around $9 on the 512GB version with Touch ID (now $689.99). Hey, that’s something.

It’s not much, but it’s an honest job: Amazon just put the all-new Apple MacBook Neo on sale for the first time since its March 11 launch. The base 256GB configuration is marked down to $595, and the upgraded 512GB version with Touch ID costs $689.99, a savings of $4 and $9.01, respectively.
Amazon will likely offer much better discounts on the MacBook Neo this summer during its Prime Day sale. (I don’t see it getting significantly cheaper than that between now and next week’s big spring sale.) But so far, it’s the best deal on the new models with no strings attached.
Best Buy has Neos for about $20 off, but they are open box, meaning returned. The Apple Store will give you $100 off, but only if you’re a student, parent of a child, or school teacher.

The MacBook Neo is powered by a capable A18 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM. It’s not as good for multitasking as a MacBook Air with more memory, but it’s perfect for people who only have a few tabs open at a time. It can perform basic tasks as quickly as last year’s MacBook Air M4 – think web browsing and sending emails.
In heavier workloads like video editing, it’s just as fast as a 2020 MacBook Air M1. It delivers around 15 hours of battery life per charge.
MacBook Neo review: I think Apple will sell millions of them
In terms of features, the Neo comes with a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p webcam, a clickable mechanical touchpad, and Dolby Atmos speakers. Its all-aluminum chassis comes in four colors: indigo, silver, blush, and a punchy “citrus” yellow-green. (Amazon’s deal only applied to money at the time of writing, but that could change by the time you read this.)

“For students, young people and occasional users, there is nothing like [the Neo] at this price,” writes Mashable tech editor Timothy Beck Werth, who gave it a 4.8/5. (See his full review.)
