Not a fan of Plex’s apps? The Plezy client is even better now on desktop, mobile, and TV

Plezy is quickly establishing itself as one of the best third-party clients for Plex, with some notable improvements over the official apps. Now the situation is getting even better thanks to the expanded availability of picture-in-picture, TV interface updates and other changes.
Plezy first launched in October 2025, an open-source Plex client built with the cross-platform Flutter framework. You can log in with your Plex account, browse your libraries, and play anything from your available servers. It has a sleek design, supports codecs like AV1 and VP9, and even supports Watch Together.
The app has just been updated to version 1.28, which adds support for live TV channel favorites, a Ctrl+F or Cmd+F keyboard shortcut to open search, and better searching in MKV files. It also has a redesigned player interface on TVs, hides numbers in PIN entry on TVs, and sorts home hubs by library order.
This is just a short list of changes, but there have been several other updates since we last checked in with Plezy, at version 1.16. The Plezy 1.26 update added automatic reconnection after network loss, per-server connection status indicators on the splash screen, and platform-specific settings menus. Secondary subtitle tracks, decoder details in the performance overlay, joining a Watch Together session, Picture-in-picture mode on iOS and macOS, expandable episode descriptions, and Spatial Audio support on iOS and macOS arrived in other recent updates.
Plezy has also fixed many bugs in recent updates. This includes issues with chapters and markers, latency with Remote Play, media key presses on Mac, stuttering at high bandwidth on Android, crashes when searching on some platforms, navigating with the D-pad on Android and much more.
I turned my Windows 11 PC into a streaming hub with Plex, and you can too
Plex promises to turn your PC into a streaming hub. I tested it on Windows 11 and here’s what I found.
Even if you’re happy with official Plex apps, Plezy is still worth a shot. I first tried it so I could watch movies with friends on a Discord call, as the Watch Together feature gives everyone the same high-quality stream instead of screen sharing. I now use it for most of my single-player Plex streaming as well, although you’ll still need to open the Plex app or web panel to change server and account settings.
You can download Plezy from the official website. It is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android and Android TV devices, as well as Amazon Fire. You can also view the source code on GitHub.
