After Being Asked About ‘God’s Sausage,’ James Talarico Says Christians Don’t Care About God’s Gender

Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico doubled down on his infamous claim that God was “non-binary” in an interview published Thursday, quoting the Apostle Paul.
Talarico, a former public school teacher who currently attends a Presbyterian seminary, defeated Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the March 3 Democratic primary for the party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn. “The Bulwark” podcast host Tim Miller kicked off the discussion during Thursday’s episode by asking Talarico about God’s genitals. “In the meat section, first of all, how big is God’s sausage? Would you say we know that God is a man? And so I’m just wondering if his pork is healthy,” Miller asked Talarico, who responded, “So, I know it’s rapid fire, but let me just because-“
“Two word answer, please. Yes or no?” Miller asked Talarico, who responded, “Look, I know I was, uh, I was being provocative, uh, with that comment.” »

“Um, I did it in the House when the extremists in the Texas legislature were trying to go after kids who were different,” Talarico continued, referring to his 2021 speech to the state legislature. “And while it may be politically provocative, I don’t think it’s theologically controversial. Most Christians believe that God is beyond gender. In fact, the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians says that in Christ there is neither male nor female. So if you have a problem with what I said, don’t talk to me about it, talk to the Apostle Paul about it.”
In his 2021 speech, Talarico attacked conservative Christians who sought to place restrictions on child gender reassignment procedures.
“In committee, I listened to 15 hours of testimony on this bill. The worst part, for me, was the number of Christians who used Scripture to justify the harm they do to children. Even on this floor today, a member tried to justify a hateful amendment in the name of God’s law.” Talarico asserted during a 2021 debate in the state Legislature over legislation to restrict child sex reassignment surgeries.
“So let’s talk about it,” Talarico continued. “The first two lines of the Bible, the first two lines of Genesis, use two different Hebrew words to describe God. One is the masculine Hebrew name for deity, the second is the feminine Hebrew name for spirit. God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is not binary.” (RELATED: Democrats’ top hope for Texas Senate has a habit of shoving far-left priorities down students’ throats)
Talarico has made other comments regarding gender and attacking conservative Christians, including asserting during a 2021 state Legislature hearing that there are six genders. Talarico also claimed that atheists and Muslims are more Christ-like than Christians with conservative political views during a January appearance on the “Politics War Room” podcast hosted by Democratic strategist James Carville and former journalist Al Hunt.
“I have met so many Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jews, Muslims, atheists and agnostics who are more like Christ than some of the Christians I serve with,” Talarico said.
Talarico also doubled down on a series of posts about He also called on the Biden administration to create abortion clinics in federal buildings after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
