Lakers star LeBron James played his 1,612th NBA regular season game against the Orlando Magic on Saturday, surpassing Robert Parish’s mark of 1,611 games.

Playing his 1,612th regular-season NBA game on Saturday, LeBron James captured the league’s all-time record for games played, surpassing Hall of Famer Robert Parish.

James, 41, started for the Lakers on Thursday against the Orlando Magic, with the Lakers currently on a season-best eight-game winning streak. James is averaging 21.3 points and 6.9 assists per game this season.

As the Lakers (45-25) climbed the Western Conference standings to third place during this winning streak, James averaged 20.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists on 64.6 percent shooting from the field over the last five games.

Already playing his record 23rd season in the NBA, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer also moved into first place in all-time field goals, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar this month.

“He must be crazy,” Lakers guard Austin Reaves said when James tied Parish’s record Thursday against the Miami Heat. “It can’t be normal. Things are happening in his brain for him to do so well at such a high level, there’s nothing left to prove, but he finds something to keep motivating him.

“It’s a beautiful thing, and it’s a beautiful thing to have him as one of the leaders of this team, because if there’s anyone in the world that could take games, not be mentally present in a film session, a practice, whatever it is, it couldn’t be him, and that’s not how he’s programmed.”
