Israel Warns That Iranian Missiles Can Reach Berlin, London, or Paris

Israel has warned that Iran’s Islamist regime has demonstrated the ability to use missiles to strike Berlin, London and Paris and that European powers cannot therefore afford to remain on the sidelines of the conflict.
Iran attempted a ballistic strike on the British Overseas Territory of the Chagos Islands on Friday, likely targeting the Anglo-American military base on the island of Diego Garcia. The strikes were unsuccessful: one missile suffered a technical error and the other was shot down.
However, despite the apparent failures, the attempted strike may have achieved something more significant than a strike on Diego Garcia, namely a demonstration that Tehran possesses missiles capable of striking far beyond what had previously been demonstrated.
While Iranian missiles were previously capped at about 1,240 miles (2,000 kilometers), the Chagos Islands are about 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) from Iran.
Although the strikes were not successful, and it is unclear how far they reached before being shot down and failing, the possibility of Iranian missiles traveling such a length has raised alarms in areas once considered outside the mullahs’ strike zone.
Commenting on the development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday evening: “During Operation Rising Lion in June 2025, the IDF revealed that the Iranian regime intended to develop missiles with a range of 4,000 km, which pose a danger to dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. The Iranian regime has denied this.
“We say it: the Iranian terrorist regime constitutes a global threat, now with missiles that can reach London, Paris or Berlin.
“The Iranian terrorist regime has carried out attacks against 12 countries in the region and is developing a capability that poses a much broader threat. »
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the new range of Iran’s missiles meant European powers no longer had the luxury of staying out of the conflict.
“They fired an intercontinental ballistic missile at Diego Garcia… They now have the ability to reach the depths of Europe,” Netanyahu said, according to the Israel Times.
“They put everyone in their crosshairs. And [they’re] “It is time to see the leaders of the rest of the countries unite,” he continued.
The British Ministry of Defense condemned Iran’s “reckless attacks” and said “attacks across the region and the hijacking of the Strait of Hormuz” pose a threat to British interests and its allies.
However, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper appeared to suggest on Saturday that London’s position had not changed in the conflict and that it would only take defensive actions against Tehran’s attacks.
“We will not be drawn into a broader conflict. We have not been and are not involved in offensive action, and we have taken a different view than the United States and Israel on this subject,” Cooper said. The times.
“But we support defensive action to support our interests. This includes recognizing Iran’s growing threats to international shipping, as well as its threats to our Gulf partners.”
Britain’s stance, including refusing to use Diego Garcia to launch offensive strikes against Iran, has come under heavy criticism from US President Donald Trump, who touted the country as America’s “former great ally” and ridiculed Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for failing to live up to wartime leaders like Sir Winston Churchill.
