Judging by the deals I’ve seen, now is a great time to buy a new cordless vacuum cleaner. Almost all of Shark’s cordless models are available at a substantial price, including CNET’s best, the Shark Stratos, and our pick for the best self-emptying cordless vacuum, the Shark Clean & Empty.

The Shark Stratos is one of the best cordless vacuums we’ve tested

Normally $500 full price you can get the Stratos Shark for a total discount of $200, bringing it down to just $300. The Shark Stratos earned top marks in CNET’s lab tests. It provides powerful suction on all flooring types, with 97.2% sand collection on hardwood flooring. It also has equally impressive carpet pickup, with 94% debris pickup on low-pile carpets and 94.4% on medium-pile carpets.

I also used the Stratos extensively during my lab visit. As a pet owner with three cats who shed like it’s a hobby, I especially like the brush, which Shark calls DuoClean PowerFines HairPro. It’s a dual-brush system that allows it to dig deeper into the carpet to remove dust and pet hair, and the self-cleaning brush resists tangles, too.
Other great features include automatic dirt detection and suction adjustment, optional odor-fighting pods that release a pleasant scent while cleaning, and an impressive 80-minute battery life for long sessions.

The Shark Clean and Empty is one of the few to come with a self-emptying dock.
One of the downsides of the Shark Stratos is that, despite its excellent cleaning performance, you have to manually empty the dustbin. The Shark Clean & Empty solves this problem by integrating a self-emptying dock. It empties the trash and charges the vacuum after each use, and offers similar cleaning performance to the Stratos (although its battery doesn’t last as long). It normally costs $350, but during Amazon’s spring sale you can get Clean and empty for just $250.
