The open championship begins Thursday morning in Royal Portrush with the best golfers in the world in the running for the last major of the season in Northern Ireland. This 2025 open will lead to early mornings – or late nights, depending on your point of view – for fans in the United States if they hope to follow their favorite players.

As is always the case with the four majors, many of the biggest stars and Favorites of the open championships will be twinned together in the first two laps. There are scenarios abound in marquee groups for Thursday and Friday. Follow the updates and covering the live rankings of the open championship throughout Tour 1.

The first large group is the 4:58 a.m. and Tee’s time by Xander Schauffele, JJ Spaun and Jon Rahm, while the 2024 open champion will start his defending defend alongside the American open champion and one of the favorites to win the Bordeaux Jug this year. In the next group at 5:09 am, the world number 1 Scottie Scheffler will start its quest for a first title open alongside two men who have already won one in Collin Morikawa and Shane Lowry. Of course, it was Lowry who won the open the last time he took place in Royal Portrush.

In the afternoon wave, there are three notable groups which will take place successively, starting with Robert Macintyre, Bryson Dechambeau and Justin Rose at 9:48 am; Followed by Jordan Spieth, Ludvig Åberg and Viktor Hovland at 9:59 am; With Rory McILroy, Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood raising back at the rear at 10:10 a.m., McILroy is looking for his second major title of the season and his first open victory in his country of origin, in Northern Ireland, in what could be its best chance of winning on this ground.
