For All Mankind is returning for a sixth and final season

The long-running sci-fi show on Apple TV For all humanity has just been renewed for a sixth and final season, before . This feels more like a natural end to the story than a cancellation, according to remarks made by some creators.
“Being able to explore the For All Mankind universe over the course of six seasons has been an incredible privilege, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to finish the story the way we always hoped,” said co-creators and showrunners Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. “We are incredibly proud of what this series has become and grateful to Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for helping us bring it to its final chapter.”
The plan for the series has always been to bring it up to date and it looks like the creators will manage to do that. Season five takes place in the 2010s, giving season six enough time to catch up with the 2020s.
For the uninitiated, For all humanity is an alternate history series that began in the 1960s, when Russia beat America to the moon. The series loves time jumps, with each season covering a decade or two.
That initial gap with our reality turned into all kinds of butterfly effect type stuff. For example, humanity quickly left the Moon to occupy Mars. Al Gore also became president around this time.
Despite the numerous time jumps, several of the show’s original cast members are still on board. Joel Kinnaman’s character, astronaut Ed Baldwin, is literally 80 years old at this point. The actor must be fed up with all these fake wrinkles.
Anyway, the fifth season of For all humanity premieres March 27. The main show is coming to an end, but there’s still a spin-off to look forward to. Star City premieres May 29. This appears to be a version of the events of the original series from Russia’s perspective.
