Pregnant Psychologist Shot Outside Her Home in Colombia as Gunman Flees on Motorcycle

A 27-year-old pregnant woman got shot outside her home in the Uribia municipality in Colombia’s La Guajira region, authorities said.

Katerine Paola Torres Barros, who’s a psychologist and the daughter of Josefa Barros, a respected teacher in the region, was identified as the victim.

According to police, a man on a motorcycle was seen arriving at the victim’s home. The man proceeded to shoot the psychologist as she was sitting down peacefully. The shooting was captured by multiple security cameras located near the psychologist’s home. The suspect was seen fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Katerine Paola Torres Barros was taken to a clinic in Maicao, where she was found to be stable. This was confirmed by medical personnel.

Authorities have confirmed that footage from a security camera was handed over to authorities, including the Sijín and Sipol divisions of Colombia’s National Police.

The police in La Guajira said that the reason for the shooting remains to be determined.
