This ingenious design allows any existing lighting to be used on the shabbat, offering a practical and aesthetic alternative to voluminous and autonomous shabbat lamps.

Osher Fritzhand, 27, is an immigrant in Israel who successfully launched his new company, Pritzadik, presenting a bulb suitable for the unique of the uniquehabbat called “Ner Tamid” which is now available in stores through Israel and online.

Fritzhand, who made Aliyah just over three years ago, went from high -tech entrepreneurship to fill in a niche that he identified on the Israeli market for aesthetically pleasant and halachically approved shabbat solutions.

Fritzhand’s journey to create the Ner Tamid bulbs started around April 2024, arising from a personal desire for a product that merged functionality with design.

“My wife and I needed a product like this,” he told Jerusalem Post. “We are very aesthetic … and seeing this on the market, there is nothing that really corresponds to what interested us.”

Inspired by a similar concept that he encountered in America, Fritzhand has decided to improve it and adapt it specifically to the largest religious population of Forisrael.

He started by handing his hand to design companies and manufacturers in China, working on various conceptions and samples of prototypes. This initial phase, lasting approximately seven to eight months from the idea to a feasible product, was a passive company.

The Ner Tamid bulb, which looks outside any standard bulb, has an integrated shutter mechanism.

“It is a bulb that looks like an ordinary bulb, like any bulb that you put in a lamp or a luminaire, and but in the middle of the lamp … There is a shutter,” said Fritzhand. When the shutter is turned, it covers the internal emitting diodes without modifying the electrical circuit.

This ingenious design allows any existing lighting to be used on the shabbat, offering a practical and aesthetic alternative to voluminous and autonomous shabbat lamps.

Fritzhand has noted an interesting trend among his customers: “All customers are not religious. People really appreciate it. For children’s rooms, this essentially allows you to play with the amount of light that comes out, in a very simple way.”

National distribution and halachic approval

After receiving his first bulbs expedition in mid-January, Fritzhand embarked on a one-month trip, driving personally to small hardware stores and possibly obtaining a placement in large chains like Machsani Hashmal and large supermarkets.
