A food safety scientist has been named the winner of the 2026 World Food Prize for his efforts to build international consensus on food standards and facilitate safe trade.
Huub Lelieveld of the Netherlands was recognized for leading a movement in more than 100 countries to provide scientific evidence for modern regulations, legislation and international standards that protect the world’s food supply. Lelieveld will receive a cash prize of $500,000.
