Suspect killed by security guard after shooting at church in Michigan

Wayne, Michigan – A shooter opened on Sunday, a fireman opened fire in a service in a suburban church in Detroit, injuring at least one person before a security guard kills him, police announced.

The incident occurred at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, a city of around 17,000 people outside Detroit around 11 a.m., church pastor Bobby Kelly Jr. said in Detroit News.

Police said that a person had been killed in the leg. Kelly said that a member of the church had returned the shooter with his truck, giving the security guard time to shoot him. The person who was killed in the leg was the security guard, the pastor in the newspaper told. No one else was injured, he said.

About 150 people attended the service, said Kelly.

Messages that the Associated Press left Sunday morning with the Wayne police service, on the church voice message and on the church’s Facebook page were not immediately returned.
